  I started out as a working student and was converted to a full-time employee. In the beginning, this step was connected with uncertainties since I only worked in big companies before and DataSpark is a small enterprise (16 people). Now as an AI Consultant, I am working on multiple projects in various domains with the goal to automate processes with AI while wearing multiple hats so besides development I manage clients, carry out workshops, initiate internal projects for knowledge transfer and qualitative development. I enjoy the variety of projects, fast-paced environment, challenges each day and due to the size company I have the opportunity to shape the company. Here, I also strengthen my software engineering skills since I am coding with standardized guidelines on software applications for production environments.

  During my internship at Amazon, I worked in the Transportation department on various data-driven projects to optimize logistics operations across the EU region. As the only technical intern in the team, I was solely responsible for the technical delivery of projects. In regards to soft-skills, I improved my ability to work independently, communicate with stakeholders, get buy-in from senior managers for my analysis in a fast-paced and international environment.   I worked in the Project Management Office of a stock-listed bank. This was my first experience in a corporate environment, right when COVID started and my first week began with a trip to the customer site in Munich. Me, knowing nothing about the corporate world, staying in Westin Grand (5 star hotel) was feeling myself to say the least :D

  • Master Thesis: Developed and compared chatbots using Google Dialogflow, Rasa and a custom LLM-based implementation (GPT-4o-mini via LangChain and LangGraph) to assist Frankfurt citizens in sustainable waste disposal. Evaluated each platform based on common chatbot requirements such as NLU, dialogue management, deployment and adaptability. The LLM-based agent featured multimodality, RAG (using FAISS) and tool orchestration.
  • [Exchange] 2-Week Seminar: On Social Entrepreneurship at Regis College in Boston, USA
  • [Project] Machine Learning for Zero Waste: Use of data mining to support the city of Frankfurt to become a certified Zero Waste City. The results were presented to the board of the city of Frankfurt and in the Data Mining Cup where we won the first place. The analysis was done in Python and KNIME and included classifying households in Frankfurt by residual waste generation and characterize those with a high amount with Explainable AI techniques. Furthermore, forecasting was done with various models (ARIMA, Prophet) to predict the amount of waste generated in the future and assess it against Frankfurt's set targets.
  • BERT Spam Detection: Fine-tuned a BERT model in PyTorch using the Hugging Face Transformers library to classify SMS messages as spam or ham. The project included data preprocessing, tokenization, custom dataset creation and evaluation using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score.

  The Data Mining Cup had 69 participants from 17 countries and issue the challenge as an AI project with focus on retail and sustainability. My group analyzed the sustainability state of the city of Frankfurt to become a Zero Waste City by applying classification and forecasting methods using Python and KNIME. The results were presented at a one-day event in Berlin hosted by GK Software.
